From Tom Kurzanski (BFA 01) “A comic series that I drew a short story for (collected in its second volume) has been picked up as a tv series and will start airing on ABC Family June 16th, Mondays @ 8/7c. The story I did was a Victorian take on the character, which may or may not make it into the series, but the writer Javier Grillo-Marxuach has a fantastic imagination and great sense of humor, so it’s bound to be a decent watch. I’ve also started work on building a voice-over portfolio for cartoon voices; I’m currently drawing a graphic novel, writing two graphic novels, and writing and drawing two children’s books, all of which should be printed within the next two years. It’s an exciting (if incredibly busy) time for me.”

From Tom Cappello (BFA 95) “I am enlisting you to promote our film “A Powerful Noise” in any way at your disposal to folks in the Washington, D.C. area. Our screening is next week at the AFI/Discovery Channel Silverdocs Film Festival in Silver Spring, MD, Friday, June 20 at 5:15 PM, AFI Silver Theatre, 8633 Colesville Road. We are playing their biggest theater and want to once again pack the house full of enthusiasm. Following the film, there will be a panel with “yours truly” and many esteemed players in the film. Please get the word out for anyone you know in the D.C. area.”

Andrew Bartels, 2nd year MFA, has received a Television Academy Internship for Episodic series – he will be interning with NCIS! If anyone else received a TV Academy Internship, please let me know.

Congratulations to two 2nd year MFA writing students! Adam Lucas was a finalist in the one hour drama category of Scriptapalooze TV, and Matthew O’Brien was a simi-finalist.

From Nicole Emanuele (BFA 06) “This is a film that my company Cinetic represented at this past Sundance Film Fest and we sold to Magnolia Pictures. Check out the trailer link below (the last link) Go check it out!! Also it has 100% on rotten tomatoes. the film site... which is nearly impossible... so it must be pretty good. “We had a strong opening week in Los Angeles and New York and BIGGER, STRONGER, FASTER* is now opening up wider. Below is the list of theaters BIGGER, STRONGER, FASTER* will be playing in tomorrow. We will also be screening in additional theaters around the country next week. We're still 100% Fresh on the review site Rotten Tomatoes - check out our reviews at

From Jodie Myers (BFA 97) “While I was visiting my dad in Israel this past February, I had the pleasure to interview one of Israel's leading male singers of our time - Mosh Ben-Ari. The interview was cut into a 30min promo for his upcoming North America tour (June 15th thru July 1st), both in Hebrew and in English. If you're in any of the cities he'll be visiting - I warmly urge you to go see him. If not, then I'm sure you'll enjoy the promo regardless as it's also filled with his wonderful music and talent. His LA show is on June 26. I'll be back in Los Angeles just in time for his LA show, so I hope to see you LA peeps there. Check out the interview on youtube at: http://www.youtube.com/moshbenari9 “
Just scroll down to "Videos" and you'll find both the Hebrew and English versions. They needed to be broken into 3 segments each to fit the YouTube format. For those who don't know, Mosh wrote the worldwide sung peace song/anthem - Salam. “
